In The Eyes Of A Detroiter By NapalmSpot

Me growing up in the big city “Detroit” , Michigan; it is a lot to the neighborhood life here. You have people at the local barbershops having cookouts with their barbeque grills fired up. You got some people selling water bottles on street corners. We have abandoned buildings and dilapidated houses but still got community leaders that want to see the better of the city. Detroit is more than Detroit, it is a town that consist of hero’s, workers and hustlers. They say the dollar is the common ground of why Detroiters move. In my eyes it is more than that, I believe it is the love of their life, family and sometimes careers.

I think a human beings greatest threat is a dollar. Yes, are actions must equate to making the dollar. When we receive payment for our deeds, it is a kind thank you for the quality of work I did for today. That is not what defines business though, I think business comes from having a passion for the community. Knowing the ins and outs of your local scene to be able to build up a strive- contributing to economic success. I would not describe Detroit as a city of, “hustlers”. Maybe that is the case in the more urban areas. When the bigger thought is captured in the mind and heart of a Detroiter. It is a better life that is being chased.

With the economic declined that happened when Kwame Kilpatrick was in office. We watched the population decreased from at-least a million going down too six-hundred thousand. Moving to  places like California, Arizona and even Atlanta. The dollars value here has inflated, rising cost and people being lost out of a house. Fast forward too the year 2018, the city has now became better. Downtown Detroit is seeing a revitalization and the artist community is starting to thrive along with it. In my opinion, what makes a Detroiter ? The grit, grime and never being able to be killed. What won’t kill me, will make me stronger.

Rap helps manifest desire through word form

Rap has taken  a back-seat on community activism and cherishing our youth. We now cherish what it means to value WWE level entertainment done on a platform, playing into a sterotype on an independent level. I understand we rap to make success, some do it for the fun. If all means though, think on what a future can hold with the other talents you hold. I think starting out as a youth doing something positive to keep away and hone in on your thoughts is a great resource for hip-hop. Then as we evolve, we see the thoughts we write down then begin to manifest what we think. Some people write income, some people write revolution and some write destruction. In other words, I think instead of living in are dreams; embrace reality with force.  You always wanted to be the man you say you are, then live it out. Why let the self-centered dream you are living on a image tell you other-wise. I think rap has helped breed community leaders, helped improve critical thinking and also promoted intercity communalism.

Then we have the other side of rap music where it is all about chasing a check. What it means to be a rapper now is to become property of another man and public image. Then watched your-self be dog walked around by your own sterotypes with a corporate agenda tied to this mans interest. Sometimes the myth may be true that some record labels are here to watch the prison rates rise, teen pregnancy go up and get the primal senses active. Drums and catch phrases help militaries prepare for war, so why can’t chants in a song boost the morale of a person to do an activity.
