It is tough being an independent artist coming up in whatever genre you are doing. Especially with promotion being a key-factor with what is going on today. I believe one of the benefits of being an artist on the come-up is the authenticity you put into your grind work. Going to open mics, meeting with different acts and communicating the art you made. I believe there is beauty in being independent that can not be replicated. Most people want what is real. I can’t lie, I can not stand someone fake who portrays something to me that is not in the realms of their reality.
When being an artist on the grind. I believe genuine interaction in your community is the most important aspect to be put on. If I sat back and thought about most artist careers. Mines is the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and even Lil B. All these artist represented something that most artist are missing. Not instantaneous super-stardom, the grind work into being an artist performing, interviewing and making their last the best impression
