Soundcloud and Independent Artist

Soundcloud is one of the best platforms the music scene has been graced with. Allowing for independent acts to market themselves at a budget that is inexpensive. We have seen many acts blow in recent times thanks too the power of Soundcloud.  The major downside too Soundcloud is that it offers no powerhouse features that can help a person grow their rate. I think Soundcloud intention was to have a place for artist too drop their music on. Instead artist are choosing on the use of major streaming platforms. In the rat race of streams, Soundcloud decided to cater more toward an artist budget and connections. Also the way Soundcloud is set up, we ask ourselves, “why is the what is trending page on Soundcloud identical to the last five songs I heard on my radio station.”. This platform should sprinkle a little more to independent artist and not a record label.

I think artist these days are seeking interaction between one individual to another. If Soundcloud added a feature allowing other independent  artist to work with another independent artist in a project file. Fan bases would grow at a rapid rate, endorsing a open creative space and the middle finger too record label budgets. Also the app in it self  seems a bit clunky, it is not as intuitive as it can be and it is harder too find one of my favorite artist on the grind.

With music having a lot of variety and sub-genres. I think adding a sub genres page would be beneficial for a lot of artist. Right now, Soundcloud is over-filled with struggle bed room artist that has over one-hundred likes. It makes it hard for a talent scout too put together a project. Finding people that are even worth the time. The struggle artist I am talking about are over Youtube beats and no hopes of talent. I think if this platform can figure out a way for people to filter out good content, the independent scene will skyrocket for many artist. I do not think it is a good idea for me to be able to buy likes and follows for people to even consider my art good. When in reality it is over-inflated numbers doing the job for me.

I think the up-side too this platform is that it is great start for pushing yourself out there. It is a free outlet after-all. But if I am a consumer choosing too upgrade, I should have a marketing kit at my finger tip and more leads to other independents in my scene. Upgrading on this platform should help give artist a platform to push their talent out even further.
