Me growing up in the big city “Detroit” , Michigan; it is a lot to the neighborhood life here. You have people at the local barbershops having cookouts with their barbeque grills fired up. You got some people selling water bottles on street corners. We have abandoned buildings and dilapidated houses but still got community leaders that want to see the better of the city. Detroit is more than Detroit, it is a town that consist of hero’s, workers and hustlers. They say the dollar is the common ground of why Detroiters move. In my eyes it is more than that, I believe it is the love of their life, family and sometimes careers.

I think a human beings greatest threat is a dollar. Yes, are actions must equate to making the dollar. When we receive payment for our deeds, it is a kind thank you for the quality of work I did for today. That is not what defines business though, I think business comes from having a passion for the community. Knowing the ins and outs of your local scene to be able to build up a strive- contributing to economic success. I would not describe Detroit as a city of, “hustlers”. Maybe that is the case in the more urban areas. When the bigger thought is captured in the mind and heart of a Detroiter. It is a better life that is being chased.

With the economic declined that happened when Kwame Kilpatrick was in office. We watched the population decreased from at-least a million going down too six-hundred thousand. Moving to  places like California, Arizona and even Atlanta. The dollars value here has inflated, rising cost and people being lost out of a house. Fast forward too the year 2018, the city has now became better. Downtown Detroit is seeing a revitalization and the artist community is starting to thrive along with it. In my opinion, what makes a Detroiter ? The grit, grime and never being able to be killed. What won’t kill me, will make me stronger.
